Be sure all your images are in the same folder as your .fla file or your images will not load up. I have used a free stock image of a monkey which is available at: www.sxc.hu
Using the loader component
Step 1
Open a new Flash document and set the dimensions of the document to the same size as your images.
Step 2
Select Window > Components > User interface and then drag the loader component onto the stage. With the loader component selected drag the component so that it is the same size as your stage.

Step 3
Now with the loader component selected click the parameters tab at the bottom of the screen. And change the contentPath to whatever your image is called; remember to include the file extension. My image is called “monkey.jpg”. Make your image is in the same directory as your .fla file. This process can be acheived with actionscript, checkout the tutorial.

The loader component does not have to load images it can also load swf files.
Step 4
Test your movie clip Ctrl + Enter.
You should now be able to use the loader component.
